Valentine

On Valentine's day this year (2002) I spent the day obtaining the release and transporting this fine big boy from Metro Nashville Animal Control  to our vet for some needed surgery.

Not the cuddly cute piglet he once was, Valentine tops 400 pounds. This wasn't his first stay at Metro, but this time his owners failed to come for him. He was scheduled for euthanasia.

Valentine has an endearing habit of sticking his tongue out quickly as though he was sampling the air around him. A sweet and very low key pig he is now snuggled down in a bed of hay for the night. He has already made a friend or two and shows every sign of being a welcome addition to the herd of mixed breeds.

So I don't know about you but my valentine's day was pretty special; a beautiful day, a box of chocolates and a wonderful piggy....doesn't get much better than that.
