Louis

Louis is a strange little guy.. one of my first rescues. Back in 1994 I was doing some manufacturing consulting in Dayton. OH and driving back and forth weekly. I got a call from my friend Sharon who ran a dog grooming parlor and did some rescue work. She had been advised that a pig was at her  local Shelter in Louisville. He had been there for 4 months in the cold wet weather on a cold damp concrete floor. He was not walking upright any more and they planned to destroy him. She asked them to release him to us they agreed, though it was on a schedule that meant I had to get from Dayton to Louisville at a speed that only 747s normally travel .. Still with 5 mins to spare before they would put him down,  I arrived to take him out of the shelter. Once home, neutered, on proper food and a warm dry bed, Louis recovered from his lameness and spent 10 years in the main herd. Last summer he became ill and I moved him into the hospital area for recovery after spending a few days at the vet's.  Try as I may, I cannot convince him to go back to his herd.. so he remains with the Special Care pigs where he has an old friend named E.T who has been with me for  15 years..
