Ellie

Ellie Mae came here after being mauled by a large animal at an exotic farm. Poor sad pig, she had been a sweet baby when she was taken home to live in an apartment. As she grew she became too large for her home and the young people who had her were unable to make any changes in her environment. So they searched the surrounding area and found what looked like a good option for Ellie, an exotic farm. There she could be outside and have the company of other pigs and other animals. And she was close enough that she could have weekly visits from her "parent", Michelle.

But the an exotic farm apparently did not have the security and well being of the animals as its priority and one night in the barn Ellie was attacked by a Llama or horse and was nearly killed. The exotic farm owner, after a few days had passed, called Michelle and told her the pig wasn't eating. Michelle hurried down and found Ellie with little or no skin left on her back, extensive infection and a high fever. She took her away from the farm and to her vet where he put her on fluids and antibiotics for weeks. She barely survived. And only because Michelle spent countless hours cleaning and dressing Ellie's wounds for months.

It took another 2 years for all the wounds to completely heal and not re open. Today, 6 years later, Ellie still has most of her body covered with scar tissue.

Ellie was reluctant to make friends when she first came here. It wasn't until Jack came in that she found someone to bond with. Jack was blind and found comfort sleeping with her. Since then they have been best friends and sleep together and laze around in the sun or shade together.
