Eudora

Dorie came here after losing her bonded mate and spent the first 2 months grieving. She had lost her mate, her human family and her home, all in one move. I guess she thought she had lost everything…but she hadn't.

For 2 years later on a Tuesday evening in July she nearly lost her life.

A victim of porcine stress syndrome, a little understood killer sometimes brought on by extremely hot temperatures, the vet said. Sadly he said " there is really not much we can do for her". I spent that evening holding her head and talking to her as she slipped away into unconsciousness. Imagine my surprise when she met me at the gate demanding breakfast the next morning. We may never know exactly which drug brought her around but she is hale and hearty and very happy these days. And has many more days to push her nose in the sand and graze the green meadows.

In 2001 at 8 years old, fearful that she had cancer we had her spayed. And we nearly lost her again as she stopped breathing twice while under anesthesia. If you ever wonder how important a first class vet staff is, Dorie can tell you, VERY important. She survived and is now free of the likelihood of uterine cancer.
