Pig Christmas 2007

Pig Christmas 2007
The Pigs of Shepherd's Green thank you all for making another year very special.
Special thanks to Princess J for hand painting so many stockings for the pigs who didn't have ornaments of their own.
Special
thanks also to all the generous folks around Kodak and Gatlinburg and
Sevierville who joined the blanket drive hosted by Dwight and Denise.. they are
put to good use in areas where a little warm corner is much appreciated or a
drafty door needs a little extra protection from the cold winds. And of course
some of our guys simply like to hide in them.. like Casey.. below..
The day was beautiful and sunny.. the people who come each
year
and share this joyful event were ready to pitch in and finish up the last bit of
decorating (thanks Tammery for trimming of our two Angel Trees!) ) and opening
food packages so at high noon we were ready to Feed the Pigs!
The Fruit was delivered along the fences while snack foods were put in the feeders and in piles on the grass inside the pens..
choices ... choices...
Menu:
1200 pounds of fruits and veggies (the remaining 400 # went out the next day) .. 200 pounds of apples, yams and potatoes were baked starting very early that morning for the special needs and elders and hospital pigs whose teeth are not up to raw apples and sweet potatoes, and 400# or more of mixed cookies, crackers, candy and nuts, 200 pounds of low fat cheese, then a mountain of popcorn brought by Denise and Dwight...
It was a good day for eating..
