Text Box: ...the rain blew almost sideways, obscuring our view of what lay ahead. Suddenly a jagged bolt of lightning illuminated three shapes, hardly more than mounds upon the meadow’s edge. What could they be? Could it truly be?? Yes! It’s….

The Hardy Boys

Peter and his cousins Bob (lower left) and Brenner are the adventurers of the southern herd. From early summer until the first freezing rain in the fall, these three boys camp out in hides they build like forts.  High sides of brush and leaves and a bed of soft grasses make up their beds, deep enough that they can get completely under the bedding to protect themselves from rain. They seldom even come in for food. They do, however,  feel that their high adventure can include snacks from visitors who know to stop at the gate and open the red mailbox where the pig “cookies” are kept. They can bend the rules a little.
These three, with a dozen more of their kin, came to live here in 1999,  after a local breeder, turned rescuer, could not care for so many any longer.
They have spent their youth in an idyllic manner, with few cares and the freedom to be their own masters..

Little Bob is small and sweet and leads the "Hardy Boys" threesome who spend their summer out in the edge of the woods "camping out" and enjoying the high adventure of it all.  Bob's brothers, Peter and Brenner are both bigger but neither is quite the adventurer that Bob is.

Bob grew up in a single pig home but was returned, as so many 2 year olds are, when he became an adult and wasn't little and cute any more. Luckily the breeder took him back and he was reunited with his family, all of which later came here to the sanctuary.
