About Us

Shepherd's Green Sanctuary is a 501(C)3 tax exempt Association located in Cookeville, midway between Nashville, Knoxville and Chattanooga. It is accredited by the American Sanctuary Association.
It is governed by an all volunteer board of directors.
Its mission : Shepherd’s Green Sanctuary exists to provide rescue, lifetime care and other aid and assistance to abandoned, abused, neglected, homeless and otherwise endangered pigs.

We have two programs:

Our lifetime care facility encompassing 30 acres of mixed woods and meadows for the general population and 2 acres of special facilities devoted to those who for physical or psychological reasons are not competitive, or who are elderly, disabled, chronically ill or receiving treatments or recovering from surgeries or illnesses.
An Outreach program that provides support and guidance for the retention and lifestyle improvement of privately held pigs.

We were known as Engelschwein Farm for many years, changing our name officially in 2005 to Shepherd's Green Sanctuary
