Doc was part of the North Carolina rescue in 2001. Over 100 pigs, all inbred to the point of major health defects and crowded into a house. Doc is totally blind , either from genetic cataracts or nutritional deficiency as a baby, and has a lung disorder. He is also a dwarf. He is unable to compete in a herd for food or bed, so he has chosen to live with White Blossom, who also came from the same rescue and is crippled. They live in Special Care. Doc gets lots of attention, a warm bed, heated housing to protect his lungs, and a special diet for boosting his immune system. Doc is a short little fellow and as round as a bowling ball. He occasionally wanders across the way to visit the pigs in the hospital building. He is a favorite of our volunteers who always spend some extra time with him.
