Puppy’s family loved him very much but had several problems.  Puppy was getting too fat, acting aggressive and constantly tearing up the fence to get out of his pen.  They were desperate to fix things as soon as possible.  The Helping Hoof Program
provided a welcome solution.

Puppy’s family was misinformed and told to feed him dog food which made him very big, very quickly.  Changing over to piggy food has reduced his calorie intake to where his growth will be normal and healthy.  While he appeared to be neutered he acted really “boarish”.  He repeatedly pushed through his fence and traveled to the neighbors, too close to the highway for safety.  A trip to Ragland and Riley Vet Clinic fixed this behavior problem with cryptorchid surgery.  Puppy’s fence was a typical dog fence that many stores sell for putting up a pig pen.  Maybe they own stock in the wire company and know that fence will last less than six months with a pig behind it!

Funds from the Helping Hoof Program were used to purchase the proper rigid fence panels.  Puppy has a fence that will keep him safe and also take in the entire yard for his enjoyment of grazing and hiding out under the trees.  Now there is space for a companion pig which was placed with Puppy once he recovered from his surgery.  They can explore their new space together.

Puppy is definitely enjoying his spacious, grassy yard.  He now has room for adventure and rooting around which pigs love to do.

Thanks to all the donors and to Puppy’s family for being patient and finding answers to his problems instead of giving up on him.  He appreciates it most of all!
